Description of Star Ratings
Quality Counts rates the quality of preschool and child care programs on a scale of 1 to 5. The following is a brief description of the ratings.
1 Star Rating
These programs have met licensing requirements for health and safety and are committed to improving their quality.
2 Star Rating
These programs are recognized as committed to quality and are actively working to improve their program.
Child care and preschool programs rated at Levels 3, 4, or 5 are recognized as having achieved “High Quality.”
3 Star Rating
These programs are achieving quality and committed to excellence. They have surpassed the basic quality standards and are considered “High Quality”.
4 Star Rating
These programs are exceeding in quality and have well surpassed the basic quality standards.
5 Star Rating
These programs are excelling in quality and have reached the top level of quality within our community. In order to achieve a 5 star rating a program needs to be Accredited.
