How to Finance Your Education

The costs of obtaining a degree are not limited to financial investment, students must also invest time to attend classes, complete coursework, travel etc. Here are some local resources to support your path towards obtaining a higher education degree.

Community Resources

First 5 Santa Barbara County
  • CARES Plus: Provides support to navigate the complex system of higher education institutions, financial aid and the field of early care and education as a career. Providers who participate in CARES Plus may be eligible for monetary stipends to support the various costs related to pursuing a degree in the field of Child Development. Stipends range from $300 – 2200. For more information visit the CARES Plus homepage
  • No-Interest Undergraduate Loan: The Scholarship Foundation offers loan awards of $1000 – $5000 to students who meet the Undergraduate Scholarship requirements but did not qualify for a scholarship. Applications are available annually Oct 1 – Jan 31. For more information visit the Scholarship Foundation website.

Santa Barbara City College – Transfer Scholarships:
  • The Foundation for Santa Barbara City College and the SBCC Financial Aid Office offers various scholarship awards. Applications are available January – March.
